The Aim: A Long Pipe instead of Short Hoses - Waterclean 5000 HS Delivers Drinking Water in Ghana
Winnenden, February 2009 – One of the biggest mobile water purification systems from the Kärcher Futuretech product range is in Ghana. Since summer 2007, the Waterclean WTC 5000 HS has been producing drinking water in Camp Burma, in Ghana’s capital Accra. Around 5,000 soliders and their relatives are stationed there and need clean drinking water every day.
A sufficient reason for service specialist Alexander Jäkel to check the current situation directly on site. At the end of 2008 he travelled to the “Gold Coast”, inspected and serviced the system and replaced a pump. In addition to this, he did not miss the opportunity to train further operators and he even suggested an improvement: at present, the raw water basin is fed from a well that delivers salt water. The problem is that the water quantity is too low, and the water purification system can operate only a few hours every day. His idea is that sea water which can be taken at a distance of three kilometres from the Camp, could be pumped directly into the raw water basin. If the necessary long pipes and pumping stations are installed, the smart service technician can do without his short hoses from the well to the Waterclean 5000 HS. Andthe Ghana Armed Forces can tap its full potential.
