First Appearance of Kärcher Futuretech at the DEFEXPO:
On Target for India with Technology Transfer and Local Value Creation
On Target for India with Technology Transfer and Local Value Creation
Winnenden, March 2010 – For the first time ever, Kärcher Futuretech participated at the “Land & Naval Defence Systems Exhibition” (DEFEXPO), one of the most important defence technological exhibitions in South Asia in New Delhi, India, with its own stand. Managing Director Jens Bauer and Sales Manager Dirk Waldow attracted the attention of the expert public with a modern stand design and carefully selected exhibits. Their presentation at the trade show was rounded off by Westerwälder Eisenwerk GmbH (WEW) which added water storage components to the water supply product range as Kärcher Futuretech’s exhibition and cooperation partner.
Water supply was in turn an element of the field camp, an accurate model
of which was exhibited by the German Army at the neighbouring stand.
Background: The Modular Air-transportable Field Camp (FLM) which is
being tested at the moment consists mostly of components from Kärcher
Futuretech. Related areas such as water purification or catering and
sanitary components were of great interest for many high-ranking
visitors such as the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Sultanate of
Brunei, Pehin Yasmin, or Lt. General Vijay Sharma, Chief of Logistics of
the Indian Army. And a first order has already concretized following
the fair: The Sultanate of Brunei has ordered three trailer mounted
water treatment systems WTC 500 GT.
There is not only a demand for water supply solutions in remote areas in
South Asia. Sales Manager Dirk Waldow, who knows this region like the
back of his hand, also sees a strong demand in the area of NBC
protection. The delivery of a mobile decontamination device (MPDS) to
the Indian Army, a system which provides a multitude of functions in the
area of decontamination of persons and material, was only the first
step towards meeting this demand. Demand for NBC protection equipment
has also increased due to the Commonwealth Games, the biggest
international sports event in the Commonwealth countries, which will
take place in October this year.
Topics such as “Technology Transfer” or “Local Value Creation” can be
heard when Sales Manager Dirk Waldow talks about the Indian market. He
feels confirmed in his view at the end of the 4-day exhibition:
“Building up strategic alliances is exactly the right way for us to
enter this market on a permanent basis. German engineering combined with
value creation at a local level is our key to success.” The starting
point has already been found: In a team together with SKL (India) Pvt.
Ltd. and Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) we are able to offer the local
customers complete solutions from the delivery of individual components
to training courses for the personnel and maintenance of the different
units.
Managing Director Jens Bauer has no doubts: “Kärcher Futuretech is
perfectly prepared for the quickly developing South Asian market and can
offer state-of-the-art technologies together with the local industry.”
