Expert Meeting in the Area of NBC Defence
Hans-Joachim Töpfer: On the Stage fort he Seventh Time
Hans-Joachim Töpfer: On the Stage fort he Seventh Time
Winnenden, June 2010 – Every three years, the NBC defence specialists come together from all over the world to attend a meeting in Sweden. Just a few kilometres north of Stockholm, at Kistamässan in Kista Science City, the experts will meet for the “International Symposium on Protection against Chemical and Biological Warfare Agents” which will take place this year from June 8 to 11. The symposium will be accompanied by an exhibition at which Kärcher Futuretech will prove again its market leadership in the area of NBC defence with a stand of 60 sq. mts.
The references are self explanatory: For example, the TEP 90 project is in its final phase: In the coming weeks, the last units of a total of 73 compact, highly mobile TEP decontamination systems will be delivered to the German Bundeswehr. The NBC defence troop will thus have a system which is equipped with extremely future-oriented and worldwide unique NBC decontamination technologies. And the TEP success story continues. Meanwhile, the interest shown by the Turkish Civil Defence organisation in the modular containerised TEP 90 decontamination system has been so great that it recently placed a contract for such a unit. Another highlight at the Kärcher Futuretech stand in Sweden will be special light-weight, highly mobile, air-transportable and versatile decontamination systems. For rapid operations, the units will be transported on a special, protected mission vehicle (Mungo type) with system trailer. In detail, these are light-weight decontamination systems for ‘persons’ (including the modules for the decontaminationof persons and personal equipment), ‘material’ (for the decontamination of vehicles), ‘sensitive equipment’ (for sensitive personal equipment and vehicle interiors), in addition to a light-weight decontamination system for ‘infrastructures’ (decontamination of road sections, installations, facilities,…). Special modules for the transport of water complete the respective decontamination systems. The systems use state-of-the-art decontamination technologies (e. g. BC vacuum decontamination) and the new family of NBC decontamination agents consisting of GDS 2000, RDS 2000 and BDS 2000. – At the symposium, attention will also be paid to theoretical considerations. As always, Hans-Joachim Töpfer, product manager for NBC defence systems, will be waving the flag of Kärcher Futuretech. On the third day of the event, at 3:30 p.m., he will give a speech on “New BC Vacuum Decontamination Technologies for Mission Critical Sensitive Equipment” together with Markus Kostron, head of the decontamination system development team. Concentrated NBC defence competence“made in Germany” can be seen by trade visitors in the German pavilion, and naturally, in particular also at Kärcher Futuretech’s stand E21.
Hans-Joachim Töpfer: On the Stage fort he Seventh Time
He appeared at the CBW Protection Symposium in Sweden in 1992 for the first time. In the meantime, he has become a real institution in the area of NBC defence. In June, Kärcher
Futuretech product manager Hans-Joachim Töpfer, will be on the stage of the “meanwhile most important forum for BC protection in the world” for the seventh time in succession. “Of the highest level” – that’s the adjective he uses to describe this event which takes place every three years at different places in Sweden, and was opened by the King of Sweden three times in the past. “Congratulations to the organisers of this event, which is an incomparable platform for presentations, the exchange of ideas and contacts in this area” says Hans-Joachim Töpfer from Kärcher Futuretech full of praise. “The joint endeavour of all people concerned to get involved against the issue of the threat caused by BC warfare agents or toxic industrial materials is reflected in all matters dealt with at the symposium”, says the 64 year old expert. After more than 46 years on the job in the east and west, Hans-Joachim Töpfer will retire at the end of 2010. But most probably he will still pursue his “hobby”. It is, thus, expected that he will go on writing publications. There is already speculation that Hans-Joachim Töpfer will also be present at the next meeting of the leading experts in 2013.
