Safeguard™ 3002-A1: A New Dimension in NBC Protective Clothing for the Canadian Army
Winnenden, January 2006 – The production of the Safeguard™ 3002-A1 protective suits for the Canadian Army is running at full speed. Delivery started in the middle of last year, almost 15,000 units have already been handed over to the Canadian Army, and a further 30,000 suits will arrive in the land of the big lakes by mid 2007. "We are proud of having been awarded a contract for the supply of our products to the second largest country in the world“, states Andreas Stöckle,

product manager for NBC protective clothing at Kärcher Futuretech. In October 2004, Kärcher Futuretech together with its partners Lincoln Fabrics Ltd. (St. Catherines, Ontario) and Pacific Safety Products Inc. (Kelowna, British Columbia) asserted themselves against their strong competitors in the tender issued by the Canadian Department of Defence (DOD). The activated carbon laminate is supplied by Kärcher Futuretech, the shell fabric comes from Lincoln Fabrics Ltd., and the tailoring is carried out by Pacific Safety Products Inc.

Canadian Safeguard™ 3002-A1 - show exhibit
The crucial factor in the award of this double-digit million dollar contract to Kärcher Futuretech was the highly innovative Safeguard™ 3002-A1 protection system, i.e. a new generation of permeable NBC protective clothing which fulfils the stringent requirements of the IPE system (Individual Protection Equipment) of the Canadian Armed Forces. The Safeguard™ 3002-A1 offers an enhanced wearing comfort and outstanding protection against nuclear, biological and chemical threats as well as thermal effects and stands out due to its unique aerosol protection. It was this protection against particles that was especially specified by the Canadian Armed Forces in their worldwide tender. The functional principle of the Safeguard™ 3002-A1 consists of a multi-layer fabric compound with an integrated activated carbon layer.

The Kärcher SafeguardTM systems stand out due to their homogeneous filter material and a low surface weight while at the same time ensuring first-class wearing properties. The armed forces in Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Romania, Kuwait, India and the UN also rely on these outstanding SafeguardTM characteristics.
