Description

Following accidents, life and health may sometimes seriously be endangered by toxic/hazardous materials. Timely and reliable breathing and body protection as well as quick and safe evacuation of the dangerous area are of decisive importance for a coordinated reaction in the case of such a danger.

The Protective Equipment for Emergency Situations provides sound breathing and body protection in the case of a danger caused by dust-type, liquid or gaseous toxic/hazardous materials when used properly and in due time.

The breathing and body protection components fulfil the known European standards, have a CE sign and have been used within the chemical industry, fire brigades and many other users for decades. They have been tested according to the test procedures described in the standards. Test values can be provided upon request. Data about tests according to regulations of civil defence authorities or armed forces are not available. Nevertheless, protection against certain organic gases and vapours is provided e.g. by the protective mask with filter.
The protective garment consists of Tyvek “C” material which was especially developed for chemical protection clothing, type 3 (liquid-tight), type 4 (spray-tight), type 5 (particle-tight) and type 6 (partially splash-tight) with regard to seam-tightness and the protection function of the complete garment. The garment meets the stringent DuPont quality standards.

Tyvek “C” is a flexible, lightweight material which offers the wearer optimal comfort. The coated outside which functions as a barrier is yellow. The garment has elasticated ribbons at the sleeves, hood and legs and an adhesive double covering strip over the zip fastener.

The protective garment offers excellent protection against
- dust or powder-type hazardous matter,
- inorganic acids and bases,
- a large variety of organic chemicals,
- aerosols or sprays of certain mixtures,
- contact with radioactive particles, etc.

Emergency teams wear Tychem “C” protective garments when blood and viruses which are transmitted by blood such as hepatitis and HIV are present.

Tyvek “C” does not contain halogens or halogenated compounds and can be disposed of thermally or in waste dumps in a way which is compatible with the environment. The way of disposal only depends on the kind of contamination which is present on the garment after use. The protective garment does not offer protection against thermal effects (e.g. fire).
